Compassion is the ability to feel for another living being. Empathy is the ability to not only understand another's feelings, but also to become one with that person's distress… to put yourself in their shoes and imagine what they're going through in that situation. We are all human. We all need solidarity. I ask that we all have more humanity and compassion or empathy.

I never had a grandmother. My grandmother had lots of grandchildren and she never cared about any of her grandchildren and that is the reason why CAS should of apprehended her kids.

I wish I had a grandmother to advocate for on her behalf. These two ladies were like my grandmother and my aunt. I hope to see this case on CTV news in the future. I am in Sudbury and its been almost 3 months and I have not hard anything on the media about this case. I think it is a important case and I think she has credibility. Has anyone seen this case on the news? It should be on the Sudbury Star and CBC Sudbury.

Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms

Under the Charter, people physically present in Canada have numerous civil and political rights. Most of the rights can be exercised by any legal person (the Charter does not define the corporation as a "legal person"),^[3]but a few of the rights belong exclusively to natural persons, or (as in sections 3 and 6) only to citizens of Canada. The rights are enforceable by the courts through section 24 of the Charter, which allows courts discretion to award remedies to those whose rights have been denied. This section also allows courts to exclude evidence in trials if the evidence was acquired in a way that conflicts with the Charter and might damage the reputation of the justice system. Section 32 confirms that the Charter is binding on the federal government, the territories under its authority, and the provincial governments. The rights and freedoms enshrined in the Charter include:

Section 2: which lists what the Charter calls "fundamental freedoms" namely freedom of conscience, freedom of religion, freedom of thought, freedom of belief, freedom of expression, freedom of the press and of other media of communication, freedom of peaceful assembly, and freedom of association.
